Situational awareness on an aircraft carrier

Steve Kreiser discusses the principles of managing high risk operations and the principles of anticipation and containment of events. Situational awareness is critical to preventing errors and being able to adapt to situations in a timely manner. The SBAR tool (situation, background, assessment, recommendation) is used in military aviation in order to standardise communication and minimise misinformation. He also highlights the effectiveness of debriefing after every event whether or not an emergency occurred.
